Schedule of the first MEPLS

At the end of the Teaching Program Correctness Workshop, several participants expressed a shared interest in organizing a regular meeting that would:

  • Serve TX/OK/NM and surrounding areas
  • Bring together researchers, students, and practitioners
  • Provide a forum for sharing research and teaching ideas
  • Cover topics such as programming languages, theorem proving, formal methods, etc
  • Not be too far from anyone
Trying out driving distances for various participants to various locations, it appeared that Abilene, TX.

Current activity:

  • We are in the process of creating a mailing list, and holding the first meeting.
  • Current thinking: fall to start, Saturday meeting, Abilene University, mostly discussions and short presentations by volunteers with one keynote, and campus tour and theater ($10-12) Friday evening, plus barbecue for lunch.
  • Possible dates being considered:
    • August 29-30 (individual tickets available at $12 each)
    • September 5-6 (block of 20 theater seats reserved at $10 each)
    • September 12-13 (individual tickets available at $12 each)
  • Based on a small amount of feedback and the availability of a block of theater tickets, unless someone has an unvoiced opinion, I'm planning on Sept 5-6.
